Have you experienced eye strain, headache, migraine, or other symptoms from exposure to LED lights or screens? Many LED lights and screens, and some fluorescent lights as well, flicker at a high frequency that is invisible to the naked eye but can still lead to headaches, eyestrain, fatigue, and other issues. This application is designed to help you identify which light sources and screens are flickering and to what extent, as well as which ones are flicker-free.
This app detects flickering in lights that blink so rapidly that they are imperceptible to us but can still have adverse effects. With this innovative app, you can easily determine if your LED bulbs, screens, or fluorescent lights are flickering and the degree of flicker.
How to Use the App?
- Position the phone so that the camera is directed towards a surface like white paper, an evenly colored wall, or a floor illuminated by the light source you wish to assess for flicker. It is crucial to keep the phone stationary during measurements as movement can skew the accuracy of the readings.
What is a Flickering Percentage?
The flickering percentage is the app's approximation of the difference between the maximum and minimum light output from a light source. For instance, a flickering measurement value of 25% indicates that the minimum light output fluctuates between 75% and 100%. A light that completely turns off in each cycle would register a flicker measurement close to 100%, while one that maintains a constant light output would score near 0%.
How Accurate Are the Measurements?
If the phone remains perfectly still during measurements, without any movement and facing an even surface, the accuracy typically falls within plus or minus five percentage points under normal conditions for most devices.
